MM

Predict:
I think this question is going to be about measurement.
Read:
Which deal costs less per gram?

a)$5.00 for 500 g

b)$3.00 for 250 g

Clarify:

I had nothing to clarify.

Big Question:
Find out which one costs less per gram.

Mathematicians Toolbox:
I used: Write a sum or number sentence

Solve:
To solve this I first multiplied 250 g by 2 to give me 500 g so each one had the same amount to make it easier. Because I multiplied the 250 g by 2 I have to do it to the three dollars to keep it equal with the rest. Then A won because it’s less than B.

Summary:

I think this is a good question to have in the problem solving section because it is a question to make you think but you don’t find it too difficult to complete.

MM

Predict:

I think this question is going to be about which one costs less and which one costs more and involve multiplication.

Read:

Which deal costs less per metre?

a)$1.50 for 15 m

b)$5 for 45 m

Clarify:

I had nothing to clarify.

Big Question:

Find out which one costs less per metre.

Mathematicians Toolbox:

I used: Write a sum or number sentence.

Solve:

To solve this I first multiplied 15 m by 3 to give me 45 m so each one had the same amount to make it easier. Because I multiplied the 15 m by 3 I have to do the same to the $1.50 to keep it equal with the rest. Once that was completed I had the answer: a)$1.50 for 15 m and then B wins because there is a $1 apart.

Kathy Reichs Reflection

Kathy Reichs

While researching about Kathy I found many interesting facts about her. The achievements she has achieved are amazing from small achievements to crime solving and award winning ones. She has many books that’s based on her work and a television show Bones. Her work is to be a anthropologist and she has helped the army by teaching them about human remains and how to retrieved then to identifying which ones are simular.

2 Understandings:

1) Kathy Reichs has inspired many people.

2) She has received many awards.

1 Wondering:

1) Why did she help the army and do all the things she’s done?

MM Term 4 Sheet 7

Prediction: I predict this question is going to be about measurement and money.

Read: which deal costs less per litre? A) $32 for 4L or B) $8.5 for 1L.

Big Question: it is asking you which cost more per litre.

Mathematics Toolbox:   I used guess check and improve.

Solve: if 1L is a factor of 4L. So I divided $32 by 4 because we want it to find out what it would cost if it was converted into 1L. And my answer was a) $8 per litre and b) $8.5 per litre. And A wins.

Summary: I used guess, check and improve as a strategy and I figured out what each litre would cost.

MM Question Solving

Sheet 8 Question 22 Term 4

Prediction: I predict this question is going to be about measurement and money.

Read: which deal costs less per millilitre A) $0.75 for 500ml B) $2 for 2L

Big Question: it is asking you which cost more per litre.

Mathematics Toolbox:   I used guess check and improve.

Solve: 500ml goes into 2L 4 times. I multiplied .75 by 4 and got $3. So B wins because there’s a $1 difference.

Summary: I used guess, check and improve as a strategy and I figured out what each litre would cost and then multiplied the prices to get the exactly the same measurement of the solvent.

Moment in Time

As I woke up, my head was aching. The room was spinning. My throat was as dry as a desert. I needed water. I couldn’t leave my bed. I glanced at the clock – 8:30am. That was when I jumped up but fell down again with dizziness. My alarm didn’t go off. I coughed and mucus built up in my throat. This made it hard for me to breath. I knew it was a chest infection. I went back to bed. Noises of all kind were ringing in my ears. The sound of Oscar screaming and grandma cooking was unbearable. The pain in my joints. Something was making its way up my throat luckily it stayed down. My nose was blocked. I’ve lost one of my senses.

In the middle of the room, sunlight shone on a paint stand and equipment. After all they’ve been through, all the danger and clues this is what they get rewarded? It all seem fishy. George reached for a pencil and started. It looked like he had an idea. He drew a beautiful portrait of me. I get it. All we’ve been through, we came closer than ever. He then kneeled on 1 knee and proposed to e. what should I do? Suddenly the ground shook and a platform raised and it didn’t stop until George was dead. I cried vigorously.

The bombings, the cries for help and the horrors of the Nazis scream at my ears. Then a sudden bomb was let off very close to me. My ears were ringing as I followed my family to safety. I could see my mother calling for someone beside me. I glanced on either side of me and there was smoke and ruins. Fires rage and crackle as it burns down our huts and belongings. Then the noise stoped. There was silence. The crowded streets were full of yelling but no noise got through. I lost hope in my hearing and my life.
